Torture Ship - A mad scientist performs experiments on "the criminal mind" on captured criminals on board his private ship. Since he faces indictment for illegally testing the relationship of endocrine to criminality in hopes of eventually curing criminals medically, he offers seven known murderers a boat ride to another country. This way they can all escape the American judicial system. All he asks in return is that they allow him to surgically experiment on them during the trip. They face execution if they stay. At least this way, he explains, they stand a fifty-fifty chance.
This film was directed by Victor Halperin who previously made White Zombie, Supernatural and Revolt of the Zombies. Overall the film isn't too bad but there's really not too much action or horror in the film's short 50-minute running time. The Alpha Video release seems to be fairly complete with the entire story intact (except for some splicy sections in what was probably a 16mm television print: The story does make sense in this version which has the entire explanation of why the criminals are on the ship in the first place and what the doctor's motivations are.

The film earned several awards, including the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film. McDonagh is a brilliant story teller and fully deserves his Tony nominations and his Olivier Award for Best Play (The Pillowman). McDonagh (formerly a playwright, here making his film debut) is a master craftsman, able to play several levels at the same time. "Six Shooter" is shocking, heartbreaking and very funny, often simultaneously. The story, in a nutshell, revolves around four people, each suffering a very recent death in their families. As they each deal with the loss in very different ways, they collide with each other, sometimes with words, sometimes with more. It's also fantastic to see the raw talent of Ruaidhri Conroy back on screen and with none other than Brendan Gleeson, the master! The cast is uniformly excellent, especially Brendan Gleeson as the sad-eyed protagonist. There’s a scene I draw from in Takeshi Kitano’s Violent Cop. It’s a very shocking moment, as you don’t in any way see it coming. I wanted to do something similar for Dealer that in essence would keep the audience hanging. If I’m honest I was a little disappointed with the final shot, as it was exactly what I intended. Time is never on your side when delving into budget filmmaking, and we were already 2 hours over at this point. A lesson learned, I think. - Ben DawkinsBrilliant mood setting everything. Awesome sound design, the aerials, and time lapse usage. It is slow in a few areas but still, it's essentially a music video. And an amazing one!
The Black Hole (2008) - A 30 something man, Charlie, is working the night shift. He is very tired and has had a long day already. Everyone else has gone home and he has a huge pile of copying to do, with important deadlines for the next day. He is dazed from sleep deprivation and spinning out a little from his coffee high, necking Pro Plus and washing it down with his 5th cup. The room is atmospherically lit with the sodium glow of florescent lighting and we get a real sense of repetition, monotony and a man who is completely bored with his job - on the edge of quitting but with nowhere else to go. Without warning the copier begins to shake and make strange noises, the scanner flashes repeating over and over, but nothing is coming out of the printer. Charlie is clearly annoyed, hitting the machine and punching buttons. The copier suddenly goes silent and still - Charlie throws his hands up in frustration. Out of desperation he kicks the copier and it spits out one A3 print of a large round black spot centred...
"The Black Hole" is a short and deep tale of greed of human nature. Silently and in three minutes this little short film delivers a single punch-line that is an end to the tale and it does it is a very enjoyable way. It is impressive how the writers and directors Philip Sansom and Olly Williams were able to make a short of less than 3 minutes running time without any line and succeed in transmitting one of the seven deadly sins ( "Avaritia") so perfectly and with right dose of humor. Award winning unofficial prequel short film dramatising Aragorn and Gandalf's long search for Gollum directed by British filmmaker Chris Bouchard. Based faithfully on the appendices of the books this is a non-profit, serious homage to the writing of J.R.R Tolkien and the films of Peter Jackson. It was shot on locations in England and Snowdonia with a team of over a hundred people working over the Internet. For me the best thing was the cinematography. The shots and locations were amazing! There was a lot of variety in scenes which hinted at the different locations Aragorn was traveling through in his search. It took two years to make and was released as a non-profit Internet-only video by agreement with Tolkien Enterprizes. The music and sound effects was another highlight for me. I found it seemed to borrow some elements from Howard Shore's soundtrack, so that I could still remember being in that world but it was still original. Really awesome job on the effects and 3d sound, especially with the orcs and the fight scenes...

Cargo is a 7 minute movie, so It's difficult to discuss much about the film without giving away too much of the story. What I can say is that this (short film) was crafted by very skilled hands by people who take film making seriously. Never have I ever thought in my entire life a seven minute zombie film would make me cry and think as much as Cargo did. As a parent and as an avid zombie enthusiast it really did it for me. It seems to be the "artsy" thing to do, but this is a short with a complete story. I like how you used subtle things like the lunch box to foreshadow the daughter's death. After a bad breakup, Zoe Smallman decides to take down her ex-boyfriend in a wizard rock battle of the bands The possibility that Zoe is attracted to Charlie is brought up very early in the story — the fact that it’s addressed quickly instead of being dragged out threw me for a loop, in a good way. Also, despite her scathing performance at the concert, the plan to “ruin Peter Hackett” doesn’t quite happen the way Zoe hopes. I’m more than okay with this choice because in real life, jerks don’t always get their comeuppance, even when we try to give it to them. It’s that fact, and the openended-ness of the film, that safely maneuvers I Ship It away from the saccharine conclusion we might expect. Slightly disappointed they got together in the end, cause that's a little cliche, I mean not every happy ending has to be a romantic one and also I was hoping this would be about two hurt friends going through their hard break ups together but pulling each other through it because friends are more important than relationships and you can care about someone without wanting to bang them. Not to give away the entire ending, but they don’t go for the easy resolution, vouching instead to suggest that our Hufflepuffian protagonist did learn more about herself along the way, and that’s satisfying in itself. It doesn’t feel like a cheap resolution… although I will admit the last line of the film is a little cheesy and on the nose, but it’s forgivable. I’ll let it slide. I Ship It is a fun, quick little movie that is well worth your time if you’re a fan of any of the actors or if you’re a part of the Potter fandom. Plus it’s online for free — you have no excuse not to check it out.

They try to take out the robot menace in a very unique way—they give a captured robot memories, and to do this they build a machine that creates a field of illusions for a man and a robot to meet and teach the robots what love is. All visual effects, computer generated content and compositing work was done within the Blender software package. As with the previous Blender Open Movie Projects, the Blender developers and community worked together to provide a movie studio style production work flow for the team. The results are a complete open source pipeline for visual effects work in Blender including but not limited to camera tracking, rotoscoping, compositing and color grading.
It is an awesome film that tells a heart-warming story along with delivering amazing Visual Effects and some really awesome special features. All who manage to do so will receive $10,000. The house is presumably haunted - one of the guests, Mr. Pritchard, who seems to know a great deal about the history of the place and says there are seven in all - but greed drives most of the victims who immediately face various threats to their lives. A chandelier almost kills one; another is haunted by the ghostly apparition of an old crone; while yet another gets a bump on the head in a mysterious room. As the guests continue to be frightened and threatened, two have their own very specific reason for being there and not everyone will live through the night.
House on Haunted Hill is quite an atmospheric movie. It has spooky background music, plenty of cobwebs, ceilings that drip blood, and organs that play all by themselves and... oh, I nearly forgot, it also has one of the best horror actors of the day - Vincent Price. Meanwhile, the first monster seeks revenge on the grave robbers who sold the body parts used in its creation to Dr. Frankenstein. Soon it comes after Marshall and the doctor's daughter.
An aged Joseph Cotten plays Baron Frankenstein, who after 20 years is on the cusp of realizing his dream of reanimating dead flesh. He and his elderly assistant Charles spend the first few minutes of the film paying slimy, disreputable graverobbing types to collect the raw materials for their final push toward immortality. While Paul Muller as Charles does a great job as the loyal henchman and voice of reason, it has to be said that the much esteemed Cotten is pretty terrible as the mad doctor. At first I wondered if Cotten was interpreting the doctor's character as an alcoholic; later it became clear to this viewer that Cotten was, in all probability, ACTUALLY DRUNK during most of his scenes. Ultimately, the story is about the young girl’s impossible predicament, where she can not live in either the fantastical and haunting world of psychosis or in the marginalizing society that mandates her medication. It is created in conjunction with Bit Films, the computer animation incubator program at Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts. From traditional stop-motion photography and paper cutouts to entire worlds created within the computer, work in the areas of animation and digital art at Hampshire College is as varied as the school itself. Hampshire uses a distinctive approach that combines individualized training with interdisciplinary collaboration between studio artists, animators, filmmakers, composers, and computer scientists.
Although the meaning of the short was reasonably clear by virtue of the woman clearly going off her meds at the start, it did help my understanding afterwards to read about how director Viera was inspired to make this film due to his father's schizoaffective disorder, which would see him disappear into delusions but then also have to be dragged back to a much more sedated reality by his required medication. To look after someone in this condition must be hugely challenging and accordingly in Caldera, Viera offers no answers but rather just presents the woman' battle between the two worlds. It is a winner of Prix Ars Electronica – Award of Distinction (Computer Animation), Seattle International Film Festival - Award of Innovation and Rome Independent Film Festival - Best Short Animation in 2012. As a narrative it is difficult and ultimately will probably work best if you understand where Viera is coming from and what he has to deal with. I am foruntate enough not to be able to relate and as a result I found that some of the film didn't move me quite as much – specifically as the film went on and went away from the more obvious stages of the conflict. It still worked enough for me to understand enough to go with it though.Invasion of the Bee Girls (1973) - In the small town of Peckham, California, many men die for excessive effort during sexual intercourse. When a scientist from the Brandt research laboratory is found dead in a motel, the government sends Agent Neil Agar (William Smith) to investigate the mysterious deaths. He suspects that the deaths may be related to some experiments of Dr. Susan Harris (Anitra Ford), who is researching bees in the Brandt facility.
"Invasion of the Bee Girls" is the best schlock soft-core science fiction movie since maybe "The Vengeance of She." It may, in fact, provide a clue to the most puzzling aspect of that 1968 epic. You will recall that Olinka Berova, who played She, was plagued by a strange buzzing in her ears. This was in fact the sound track calling her back to the trackless wastes of lost eons, although for a long time we didn't catch on. All we knew was that every time she heard the buzzing, Olinka started taking off her clothes. Members of the audience were even moved to float a few tentative buzzes themselves. Now comes a movie in which every time we hear the buzzing on the sound track a man drops dead of an acute coronary. What salvages this somewhat unlikely plot is the movie's sense of style. It looks good, it moves fairly well, the girls are pretty, Big Bill frowns impressively and there are a lot of near s-f gimmicks. There are many reasons to have a fascination with science fiction. It helps open doors to alternate ways of viewing our reality. It introduces new concepts from the realms of science, philosophy and metaphysics. It consistently shows the triumph of the human will over mental afflictions such as greed, ignorance and anger, all the while promoting tolerance, reason and compassion. Any composition needs to begin with one or two main elements. The smaller the elements, the greater number of them there should be. You need to start with one or two main ideas and gradually build up the smaller elements until the space becomes rich with life. Aiden Pearce has hacked a system called CTOS (Central Operating System). When the government takes it too far Aiden Pearce swears vengeance on CTOS and all who control it. With his new gained power he can now find and kill all who control CTOS and end the system. The video is also available in 4K, but unless you have a powerful graphics card and a huge 4K monitor then you may as well just stick to Full HD.
Ubisoft have partnered with YouTube filmmaker Devin Graham to bring Watch Dogs to life in the form of this three minute live-action parkour film. The video is sleek and clean in terms of its cinematography and the movements of its featured athletes. Working with Devin this time are CBR traceurs Chris Romrell and Robert Bennett, and the one playing Aiden looks pretty legit in that outfit. Born of Hope (2009) is a homemade prequel to Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. There are many little details and moments that Tolkien fans will love. It's so nice to see that attention to the detail of Middle-earth's history. They did an excellent job of scouting locations, especially for Taurdal. Costume designs were sent from the Netherlands. It is brilliant for the small budget that was available to the filmmakers, and it dovetails quite nicely with the Jackson movies. The idea for the film was born in 2003 when director/producer/actor Kate Madison wanted to submit a film for the Tolkien Fan Film Exhibition. Born of Hope was made with a budget of only $39 000 and has won the 2010 London Independent Film Festival in the category "Best Micro-Budget Feature". Acting is not that impressive, but the fight sequences are really well choreographed with pretty amazing stunts! It's impressive how every table seen was broken in this film! If only Hollywood would more often listen to the fans... The 8-minute film was created by Clinton Jones known to YouTube fans as pwnisher. Interesting fact is that mr. Jones is colorblind. Clinton has been practicing Shu Nen Do, Kempo, and Shaolin Kung Fu since he was 9 years old. He draws inspiration from the works of Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee. Clinton was raised in Chino Hills, CA until the age of 15. It wasn't until he and his family moved to Atlanta, GA when his interest in making short films kicked in. Clinton used YouTube as a means of inspiration and a way of getting his work seen by the world. He mainly focused on making Visual Effects related short films. Indeed, many in the audience at one burlesque show in New York have only sex on their mind, including young unmarried couple James and Jane, office colleagues Peggy and Betty (Peggy who is trying to seduce Betty), and Paul Lorenz's son himself, Tom Lorenz, who is looking forward to an after show group sex party, which will include some of the girls from the show, such as Sheila Wayne, who has syphilis but treats it as casually as her sex. One of the show girls who won't be attending the party is Millicent Hamilton. From a small town, good girl Millicent's pre-engagement to her boyfriend Wendel Hope was interrupted when she won a beauty contest with a trip to New York. She found life in New York more difficult than she expected and a sexual encounter associated with trying to advance her show business career resulted in her also contracting syphilis. But Millicent is going to respected Dr. Hampton, who informs her that she can fully recover and eventually marry Wendel if she takes the slow, intensive but proven therapy. But when she leaves New York for home which means therapy with another doctor, Dr. Hampton warns her to beware of quacks who may promise a full, expensive miracle cure. When Millicent heads home, will she heed Dr. Hampton's advice, or will she fall prey to the hope of a quick cure so that she can marry Wendel sooner?

This movie has what the title promises - fast cars, furious scenes of racing (in-car camera to capture real curve-hugging action, and there's also the fake movie background for the tamer driving scenes), a beautiful woman and a charming outlaw. I was hooked right away when we meet the main characters in a road side diner.
Roger Corman's production of "The Fast and the Furious" from 1954 stars John Ireland and Dorothy Malone, with a large cast of supporting players like Snub Pollard and Bruno VeSota, who you may remember from a wide variety of roles including "Kojak," "The Wild Wild World of Batwoman," "Attack of the Giant Leeches," and even "Leave it to Beaver." While VeSota does fine, the low point for acting has to be the opening scenes in the restaurant anytime waitress Wilma (Iris Adrian) opens her mouth: her voice may be the most grating I have ever heard. Ireland and Malone do reasonably well with their parts, although the script is frequently implausible and extremely melodramatic. The long process of tracking, hunting and transforming this king of the forest into a finished product is a time consuming process, but the final outcome is a reason to celebrate. An amusing fake advert in a documentary style, which led to the (quite different) Finnish feature film. Anti-Claus, you might say; this film takes a different spin on the origins of the man dressed in white and red.

The main character is a technician in the meat/protein growth industry. He controls the produce quality, growth rate and maturity. The breeding chambers, where animal proteins are matured regularly fail. It's a delicate process, which requires a certain growth hormone to work effectively. Apparently that is a very valuable substance and our protagonist made his own experiments with it.

Made to showcase the new 4K camera technology, Loom is a bleak, dystopian piece of science fiction. RED initially presented Loom at the 2012 NAB Show on April 2012 and recently President Jarred Land released it online via Reduser, the company's forum. There is something disturbing about "Loom" from its very onset. Everything in the environment seems created to facilitate human life and work. Yet, much like in Brazil, nothing really seems to work. Lights are blinding rather than enlightening, Chairs are empty and always in the way. Everything is cold and robotic, even when it's bathed in warm color. I read certain influence of Japanese or Korean Movies and Manga into Loom. It seems like Loom displays a universe where people are always either crammed together (at work) or lonely (in their free time). Being human seem to be superfluous for anything except work. Recovering a locked container he seems to have found what he was looking for, which is information relating to the quarantined Facility B. Unfortunately just as located by a robotic drone and the race to escape is on.
“Ruin” barely looks animated. Aside from the few close-ups of the hero’s face and hands, he looks like a real person—largely because he’s moving so fast and is so close to getting killed at any second that there’s not much time to think about how he and everything around him is computer-generated. (Besides, most live-action blockbusters these days have CGI-heavy action sequences anyway.) “Ruin” is a polished spectacle, putting the viewer in the place of a desperate man who’s in mortal peril—and in constant, rapid motion. While the film shows nothing of Ball’s skill with actors, dialogue, or storytelling, it does show a rare grasp of action choreography and effects. Once the film kicks into gear, it rockets off, hugging every curve tightly.
Escape From Sobibor (1987) - The historical recreation of the escape from the Nazi Death Camp Sobibor, where approximately one-quarter million Jews were executed. Of approximately 600 prisoners who attempted escaped in October 1943, around 300 succeeded. However, nearly all were ultimately recaptured; only about 60 people survived Sobibor. This gripping, fact-based drama chronicles the courage of an inmate who managed the largest escape from such a place. Thanks to him, over 300 prisoners were freed.
When it premiered on CBS in 1987, about 31,6 million Americans saw the film on TV. The film is full of suspense and based on a true story that happened at Sobibor, which was the biggest camp escape during the war. This movie is in some parts shocking when, like Schindler's List and other Holocaust films, it shows naked women and children being led into the gas chambers and a woman being executed simply for bringing her baby into the camp. This movie is a great film and I am surprised that it was only a made-for-TV movie, for it has the true qualities of a theater movie and it also has a great musical soundtrack. Influential Merchant Buldeo is bigoted against 'beasts' including Mowgli; not so Buldeo's pretty daughter, whom Mowgli takes on a jungle tour where they find a treasure, setting the evil of human greed in motion.
The Little Princess (1939) - The story sets in the England ruled by Queen Victoria. Sara is a little girl who doesn't have anything in the world but her father, Captain Reginald Crew. War times run, and Captain Crew's sent to fight with the British army to Africa, to fight against in the Boer War. Sara's worried about her father and she's afraid of his security. The girl is registered in an exclusive seminary for girls, only for a period of time, until Captain Crew returns from Africa. Amanda Minchin is a strict woman who runs the seminary. Sara makes friends with a kindly young teacher, called Rose, and with the horse instructor Geoffrey. So, Sara's life at Minchin Seminary is very happy, but everything there has a monetary cost, even the birthday party and the presents that Miss Minchin sets up for the girl. When Sara finds out about Captain Crew's death, she's devastated but all the privileges will cease, because there's no money to pay for them. Miss Minchin tells Sara that she can stay, but in a dark and creepy attic and she'll have to work as a servant for all her friends. However she makes friends with a nice Indian servant from the house next door and with the other servant girl, Becky, at the seminary. But Sara, keeps hoping that her father is still alive. Not knowing who did it or why, Bigelow embarks on a frantic odyssey to find his own murderer.
This film is the kind that doesn't kid itself at all- it knows what it is and is pretty happy to have it that way. It's filled with the classic tough-guy, 'real-to-life' dialog of the thriller, while staying a foot ahead of the audience. This is because the director, Rudolph Matte (the great cinematographer behind many a film-noir and Carl Dreyer's masterpieces) has such a clever hand of the material. One wrong step and it could slip into being too hokey. In fact there is a camp factor in a couple of scenes; the subject matter almost slips into Naked Gun parody before stepping back up for air. But for the fans of mysteries of today would want to check this out, as it provides a twist on the usual logic of the sub-genre (if a genre at all). While not as 'dark' as other film-noir pictures, it still ranks very high in it storytelling, having a potent enough story to tell, and a slew of actors just pushing the limits of the B-movie style. - MisterWhiplash Director: Rudolph Maté Starring: Edmond O'Brien, Pamela Britton, Luther Adler]]>Short Film Proximity puts us with two men after waking up. They find their ankles rigged with proximity triggered bombs, bound together while being forced to play a twisted game of survival as they are hunted by their captors. It is set in a world which reminds me of "The hunger games" but still manages to be original and fresh. I would like to see an expansion of this idea and this world, perhaps in the form of a mini series or even a feature film.

The scenes blend a series of surreal paintings of Dali with dancing and metamorphosis. The target production began in 1945, 58 years before its completion and was a collaboration between Walt Disney and the Spanish surrealist painter, Salvador Dalí. Salvador Dali and Walt Disney Destiny was produced by Dali and John Hench for 8 months between 1945 and 1946.
Dali, at the time, Hench described as a "ghostly figure" who knew better than Dali or the secrets of the Disney film. For some time, the project remained a secret. The work of painter Salvador Dali was to prepare a six-minute sequence combining animation with live dancers and special effects for a movie in the same format of "Fantasia." Dali in the studio working on The Disney characters are fighting against time, the giant sundial that emerges from the great stone face of Jupiter and that determines the fate of all human novels. Dalí and Hench were creating a new animation technique, the cinematic equivalent of "paranoid critique" of Dali. Method inspired by the work of Freud on the subconscious and the inclusion of hidden and double images. Dalí said: "Entertainment highlights the art, its possibilities are endless." The plot of the film was described by. Dalí as "A magical display of the problem of life in the labyrinth of time." Walt Disney said it was "A simple story about a young girl in search of true love."

They say that "avec grande puissance vient grande responsabilité", but I guess Buck hadn't heard this one since he decides to specifically use his powers to impress Mady and win her over.

The place is great and the girl is beautiful. If only the two sides of his brain (seen here as two tiny creatures running the brain's command center) could work together for once.

Kansai residents will appreciate the fact that Osaka (the exclusive Kita-Shinchi area is featured) and Kyoto (where the geisha scenes were filmed) are also included in this amazing work.Using chilling footage and lucid voice over, it traces the methods by which Freud's discoveries about the sub/unconscious mind were systematically implemented by corporate America in the 1920's and later the U.S. government to increase their wealth/power while at the same time giving people the impression of greater personal freedom. It was Bernays who founded the 1st public relations firm and coined the term "engineering consent".

A Twist Of Sand (1968) follows a former British Naval Officer who makes his living by smuggling goods around the Mediterranean. To complicate things further, he has some very good reasons for not going there related to a mission he undertook there during the war.

Through young girl's imagination as she reads her book of extraordinary adventures late at night, we explore the power of fantasy, imagination, creativity, dreams and conscience with one question in mind - where is the border between reality and imagination.
Reading while dreaming is entirely possible. It is a common sensory experience and dreams are based on imaginary facsimiles of sensory experiences. I've dreamed, for example, that I'm listening to a symphony orchestra playing a beautiful piece of music I've never heard before.

Harlequin thriller deals with Claudia Davis, a typical 20 something, an average girl working two menial jobs and has no social life to speak of. Feeling entitled to more than she truly deserves, she decides to take on a new persona and begin robbing convenience stores. That's where she meets Tom, a middle aged, fat, balding convenience store clerk. She robs him at gun point taking every sense of manhood he has left. This sends Tom on a downward spiral. He projects his own self hatred onto Claudia and becomes obsessed.
The reason why I sat down and watched this is because I always like seeing relatively unknown or independent filmmakers or even ones just starting out. I always find it interesting seeing what they can do. I did stumble upon this by accident but when I found out what it was - knowing nothing about the next 15 minutes - I decided to take a look. The acting was surprisingly good, the directing was spot on and I do like how this movie looks. I will definitely be seeing more Tara Alexis work because if this is any indicator - there is some talent behind this.

]]>Star Wars Kara tells a story of a veteran X-Wing pilot who helps transport a young girl with mysterious powers and her desperate father to an underground Rebel base. It's one of the first fan films inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens (so far) that really captures the spirit of that movie, specifically how amazing Daisy Ridley's character Rey is. In this film, Andra Nechita stars as Kara, and there's a really big reveal with her near the end that makes this even more exciting. To top it off, this has impressive technical aspects including outstanding VFX work (X-Wings, Tie Fighters galore!) and tons of futuristic action that actually feels real.
Cole inFamous Fanfilm is adaptation of PS game. Main character Cole develops incredible powers after surviving a lethal city-wide explosion, he has a life-changing decision to make: protect himself and those closest to him or stand up to the ruthless militia taking over the city. A wonderfully shot short film with special effects that resemble that of Hollywood, 'Cole' is definitely a fan film that gets it right.
French Filmaker Fred Cavender and his team have worked hard to make an InFAMOUS Fan Film, and frankly, it's pretty freaking epic. The cosplay is great and the zappy special effects are awesome, not to mention the whole film was done on a budget of less than 2000 euros (about $2,700). "Cole" is a fan film of the Playstation video game series "Infamous" and is freely based on the events of the first two games. Entirely self-produced, the short film was made over the course of 2013 in Bordeaux, France, with the challenge of creating a "mini-blockbuster" with little to no budget.

There's some impressive cinematography in this, and some moody music, which help achieve Bhagat's goal of making it feel real.

Middle Earth: The Shadow of Mordor is a video game inspired by the world of The Lord of the Rings that has given ideas to filmmakers Sam Gorski and Niko Pueringer who come to make a short film in which the daily life of an orc in Mordor. And we can tell you that it is not easy, especially when one is being slaughtered without boom in the jugular and stabbed in the skull. Rendering for a short amateur film is really stunning. Sets and make-up are very impressive. And besides, there is a touch of considerable humor. With limited budgets and resources, they create epic works that are not only stunning but make you crave for more. The YouTube channel CorridorDigital has done exactly this with their slew of creative and visually-engaging videos. The short film was sponsored by Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment.
Cropped (2015) is a 5 minute short comedy/sci-fi film. Cropped is about a group of UFO enthusiasts who clash with their cynical crop circle tour guide. When night falls the group have to set their differences aside when the mystery of the crop circles is revealed.
This is just purely awesome! I love the acting, the story and the color grading is fantastic, great work!? Just as good a story about these crop circles as any we've seen! Agricultural Banksy. I have a feeling it could make the Oxford Dictionary one day. Brilliant line in a brilliant concept and so well acted.

When Robinson Crusoe sees Caucasians on the island, he finds that Captain Oberzo was the victim of a mutiny and he helps him to retrieve his ship. The classic novel by Daniel Defoe gets adapted by the great Luis Buñuel.
Of the many great films Luis Bunuel was involved with, ROBINSON CRUSOE is perhaps his most neglected, but in my view, it is one of his very best movies. Defoe's story of an emissary of white, Christian civilisation suddenly alone in the universe and having to fend for himself, is a wonderful metaphor from which to explore the human condition and spirit, thrust into a world in which, if there is a God, he is seemingly powerless to help or intervene.

It's always awesome to see Corridor Digitals videos when they have a bit of a budget. They are probably one of the best youtubers out there. Corridor is one of the best youtube channels. They are constantly inventive, and it's kinda shame they only seem interested in doing commercials for game/movie companies. If they made an actual movie I'd bet it would do really well.

We technically tried to make it serious, but I think that’s what makes it funny. It took a year before it really started becoming popular. My short film The Surface was released on YouTube. Many questioned my sanity in this plan, as it was not even on my channel. Why I did this? Because this film was made to be seen. I chose to partner with the CG Bros Channel, who have built an awesome channel audience of 1,000,000+ subscribers. It wasn't made to earn money, but to show the world the talents of all the wonderful cast/crew who dedicated thousands of hours on this project. Seeing the response thus far has been inspiring, for nothing motivates me more than knowing that the stories we tell actually move the audience who watches it to tears. This is a fun little short which doesn't take itself too seriously. There is some bawdy humor, which is rare in the ultra-serious sci-fi genre but offers some welcome relief simply because it is so rare. That may put some viewers off. However, if you aren't a complete nerd about these things - and I admit I may have to struggle against that sometimes myself - and you have a sense of humor, you may find this fun and enjoy the heavy dose of CGI. Francesca Gandolfo, who doesn't have any other credits apparently, steals the show as an alien in tights, while Vincenzo Alfieri provides most of the humor while carrying the plot. "Closer" apparently was intended as a sort of pilot for a film or tv series which never materialized (at least not yet), but it stands on its own and is worth the watch.
